5/27 Moodling discussion

Today I misinformed our listeners about what moodling is. I think that's what I decided it was so I could feel better about smelling the roses instead of walking along the path.
Here is the link to Christine Kane's blog about Moodling and Attention Splatter.
She describes it as focused creative time rather than a little bit of everything and getting nowhere.

I like to think moodling is doing something when the mood strikes you and taking advantage of opportunities even if they weren't in the original plan. If I'm in the mood to veer off course, I may and I give myself permission.
As long as I get back on course or re-evaluate the course that is.

5/27 - Moms with extra challenges

Today we talk with two moms with extra challeges to getting organized.
First we talk to Adela Raffa, a single mom for 10 years (children now 14 and 11) with a full time job and how she deals with the day-t0-day kid clutter.... with no back up. She's got lots of strategies to share.
You can contact Adela at AKRaffa @ mac.com

Memorable moments:
Kids feel safer when there is a routine - they know what to expect.
Ask yourself: Am I the adult on board? (or who's running the show?)
Be gentle with yourself

Second we'll talk with a mom who has launched a small business that is rapidly taking off! Britt Menzies, owner of Stinky Kids will tell us how she manages a booming business and her family life. Where would she be without her cell phone!
Stinky Kids by the way is a T-shirt company that makes custom shirts that look like your kid!
And a portion of proceeds go to help fight cancer.
Memorable moments:
"Be a leader of Good"

5/20/08 Transitions for Moms

We continue our Month of Moms series with two guests talking about staying organized during tough transitions.

Our first guest is Laura Ray, a new mom and Professional Organizer who now has 1 year of mommy training under her belt. Since it's all still fresh she'll tell us how she stays organized and what gives her and her other mom pals trouble. We'll talk about solutions for new moms.

We also talk to Jamieson Haverkampf who has written the book "Mom Minus Dad" about helping with the loss of a parent. This is such a difficult time for the older parent and the adult children. She wrote this book from her own experience.
She says lots of divorced women are also picking up the book because of the great resources and support.

Decoupage post card door

As promised, here is a photo of my postcard door (creative organizing show 5/13/08)
I printed vintage Florida post cards on Post-it photo paper.
Then I arranged them on the door.
They didn't stick around the edges, so I got out the Modge Podge and decoupaged them all on.
Mixed in are some vintage pictures of my family on Florida beaches in the 1940's and 50's and some of my own little clan at Florida theme parks and beaches.

May 6, 2008 - Organizing Moms #1

We talk with 3 experts at organization for families.
Stephanie Vozza of TheOrganizedParent website gave us some great ideas for products that get moms on the organizing track -Stuff made just for helping families.

Amy Bergin, mom and inventor of The Couponizer talked about saving money and how coupons are just another kind of scrap paper until you give them a home.

Once you give them a home, they're important. So if you really want to save $$$, a system is the trick!
FABU!

Last we talked with Valentina Sgro, of Really Organized who wrote "Organize Your Family's Schedule in No Time" and her latest book "Patience and the Porsche." Patience is the first book that teaches organizing through storytelling (that we know of). We learn as the characters in the book learn.
